With the World Watching…Yikes!

So it’s been just over a week on the Best Life Diet and I really do feel great. I’m not every really hungry (love the snacks on the diet–especially the chocolate/strawberry smoothie)…and if I am not hallucinating, I do think I’m getting smaller. It’s a bit frightening doing this plan and changing my life “on stage”–in front of millions of internet users. I had better do well, right? No messing up! I feel a bit like the weight of the world is on my shoulders…or my thighs…or better yet, coming off my thighs! I hope you will all hang in there and be patient if I stumble…Rome wasn’t built in a day. Please let me know if you also have a bad moment–no judging, no questions–just “I’ve been there” and let’s make it better.

No hiccups this week but that in itself is a danger zone. I’m the type that when I blow it a teeny bit, then I bring out the huge cheesecake and devour the whole thing because, well….the day was ruined anyway, right? So I’m holding tight so far but at any moment it can all go out of control. I’ll be writing to you all if I get in that situation so you can save me from myself. :-)

As I’ve said before, I perform better in front of an audience but there is nothing like being on a great team and I don’t want to let anyone else down. And as we change our lives forever on this plan, we’ll leave with a “patchwork quilt” of experiences, friends, anecdotes and collective support to get us through any roadblocks in the future. I hope all women out there know that all six of us here are here to support you too–that is why we are here!

Have a great eating week everyone….Mary Ellen

Maybe I need the world watching me so I can step my game up! I am so confused about the way to go about losing weight. I listen to different people about how they lost weight and I am baffled. Currently I am trying the Mayo clinic diet. I have been on it for about a week now. I am wondering if it is going to work. I just want to waist precious time on something that is not going to work. I want to be trim by the summer and I feel the clock ticking. I work out at least four times a week for about an hour and a half. Help!!!!!!!!!

I have been buffing myself for summer, I have discovered one thrick that made all the difference.

Learning to read a label!! What all those scientific terms means , you know the ones you have no clue what they are, don’t know if they are good or bad for you. Did you know there is many kinds of sugar and most of them have different names and are bad for you?

If you don’t know how to read a label then chances are you are putting stuff in your body that is not good (or just fattening)

Get a naturopathic book that explains the difference between good fat, good sugar etc.

Did wonders for me!! Best book I ever bought, It even help-ed my son with is ADD!

Go for it, Girl! I have chosen to follow you since I am about the same age as you and the same body shape. Do you mind posting how tall you are? We look like we’re built the same. That probably doesn’t matter to alot of people, but it’s hard for me to be inspired by someone who has straws for legs. :o ) I am a mom, too, and want to be healthy, but let’s face it, Honey, I want to look good, too! :o ) I am at the age where I want to look good for myself and not every cute guy in my college classes. My “bikini” is learning to let the mirror be my friend!

Suzanne–you are right on about reading a label (ever wonder why this is required by the FDA?). Some restaurants are now going to be required to put calorie counts on the menus…good bye fettucine alfredo, that is for sure…

Angelle–you are a workout queen! 4 times a week for an hour and a half? Well–your body is certainly getting exercise so that is great. Since I’ve been on the Best Life Diet I am surprised at how basic the concepts are. I’m not as familiar with the diet you are following but some core principles that are working for me are 1) Stay hydrated — (weight only leaves your body one way and you need to help it along too); 2) Fiber fiber fiber fiber fiber. How much fiber are you getting on your plan? This is what keeps you fuller longer; 3) Calories. I’m currently in weight loss mode so I’m at 1500 per day (by they way, I’m hardly ever hungry on this plan)…how many are you consuming?

DietQueen–I tell people I’m 5′8″ but I’m really 5′ 71/2″. So I’m taller but I’ve got a long torso and shorter legs. I want the mirror to be my friend too…I use it for “damage control” now…I want to look into it and think “that is one hot mamma”…literally. Let’s keep up with each other–how much do you want to lose?

I want to lose 23 pounds OR be in a solid size 10. I am not really concerned about how much I weigh, but it seems that at least 15-20 pounds might get them there if I tone up what I have. However, I hate to exercise, so I am trying to change my attitude about movement and exercise and shoot to do some activity each day. I am like you in that if I overeat one day or don’t have time to exercise for at least 30-45 minutes, then the whole day is shot and I don’t need to do any type of physical activity. So-o-o-o, I am trying to change my ways of thinking. Here’s to behavior changes and positive thoughts!
