Is it swimsuit season already?

Ok, I must be crazy.  I am just starting Bob Greene’s Best Life Diet (a little over 2 weeks in).  I had a great idea.  “Let’s take the kids to the new indoor waterpark”.  My husband and kids were estatic and so was I, until my daughter asked if I was coming in the water. (here’s to being a positive role model and instilling a positive body image).

Don’t get me wrong, I love to swim and in a former life was very good at it.  It’s just that three kids and several decadent desserts later,  putting on a swimsuit was not an exciting idea to me.  I’d rather pluck out all the hairs on my body one by one.  So, I did.  Well, actually, the one’s on my eyebrows :)

Ok,  I got over the fact that my body is not in the shape I would llike it to be and put on  a one-piece (I’m not crazy).  I figure I am a work in progress.  I strutted out there with my kids and had one of the best times of my life.  I ran up and down the various water features, squirted the kids with waterhoses, went down all the slides and finally relaxed in the hot tub.  I had a great day and didn’t let my weight hold me back.  I’m not perfect, but here’s to a great first step.

Good for you Veronica. I haven’t worn a suit in 4 years. Maybe this year will be the year….I’m already on my way.

Good for you. I just started a swimming program at our local pool at 5:30 a.m. This morning is the first time I have worn a suit in public in years. I live in Michigan so wlking outside has been a little difficut latley so swimming was another cheap alternative….you go girl. I am so excited to see all of our progress…..Good luck to you too!

That’s the spirit. I feel the same way about myself. I’m a work in progress. I used to think that when a person turned 40, looking good would’nt be that important to me. Now that I’m 45, I realize you never quit caring. And we’ll always be role models for our kids!!!!!!!! Keep Going!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Mary Ellen, Melissa and Ann for your support and encouragement.

A light went on in my head. My daughter was wondering if I am going to swim. Do I normally not swim? Then, I realized that I don’t (because of my self-consciousness). It felt great and I had a good time.

Mary Ellen, you are doing a great job…. look out swimsuit!!

Melissa, keep swimming. That is an awesome exercise and will definitely keep you in shape.

Ann, you are so true. These kids look up to us and we got to do a good job. Their lives depend on it.

Ha ha! Swimsuits are the best, aren’t they? I had no shame in wearing a tankini in Aruba… until I got the pictures and I was like… are you for real?! I had no business wearing that! It’s all about goals baby, and let’s head for the beach in a healthier bod this summer!

But you knowm really… at the end of the day, it’s just a bathing suit and your confidence and personality will burst through more than how you’ll look in a bikini :)
